Touch Trust appoints new Chair
Touch Trust, an inclusive arts charity that provides creative movement sessions for adults and children with a variety of multi-sensory needs, is delighted to announce the appointment of Aileen Burmeister as its new Chair.
Aileen is a passionate advocate for social justice and environmental sustainability and has over ten years of experience in the third sector, currently as Head of Fair Trade Wales. She has five years experience of inclusive playschemes and education for disabled children/people with disabilities/multisensory needs and was involved in community dance groups from a young age, now enjoying dance mostly as an audience member.
Aileen said: “’I’m thrilled to be joining the Touch Trust family in its 25th year. The enthusiasm, care and dedication of the team in supporting our guests to enjoy music and dance is inspiring, and I look forward to playing my part in supporting Touch Trust to continue successfully into an exciting new era”.
Touch Trust is based inside the iconic Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, with its own purpose-built sensory rooms and hoisting equipment. Its unique and person-centred approach to working with individuals ensures that it celebrates their individuality, promoting physical, emotional and social benefits and a holistic sense of well-being.
Touch Trust’s sessions can include rhythmic breathing techniques, massage, music, dance, and relaxation. It also runs inclusive arts projects that involve storytelling, puppetry, drama and more. Touch Trust works with groups and individuals from daycare centres, care homes, special schools, playgroups and other charities.
Gray Hill, Touch Trust’s CEO, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Aileen as our new Chair. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organisation and a genuine passion for our work. I look forward to working with her and our board to ensure that Touch Trust continues to grow and thrive as a leading inclusive arts charity in Wales.”
