Biannual Head's and Senior Staff Event 19/10/2012

Monday 15th October saw the Senior Staff and Head Teachers enjoying a buffet in Wales Millennium Centre's function room and being delighted by two wonderful presentations. Touch Trust's Chair of Trustees, Dr. David Ellis, introduced everyone, followed then by Wales Millennium Centre's newly appointed Managing Director, Matthew Milsom.

Matthew spoke about Wales Millennium Centre's success and the relationship it has with Touch Trust and it's other residents. It was interesting to hear information about the finances and also how the Centre links with the educational sector.

Kevin Tansley, Head Teacher of Ty Gwyn Special School, delivered a great presentation which highlighted how Touch Therapy has positively effected it's students. The presentation also detailed the school's management and staffing which helped the delegates understand the deeper workings of the school. Kevin concluded his presentation with a beautiful flim of the students enjoying Touch Therapy.

We were then given another presentation by Carol Norman, a teacher in Ysgol Erw'r Delyn, who is also the lead sensory provider for the school and Senior Touch Therapy Leader. Carol gave a great sensory treat displaying how she has introduced themes into her Touch Therapy sessions. She played music and showed images to the delegates that she has used in the themed sessions which helped everyone understand the diversity of the programme.

We ended with a discussion regarding how schools not yet accessing Touch Trust sessions can find out more, it was suggested that utilising the power of the parent was successful. We also updated everyone with our news that the Centres of Excellence is coming into sight asking that any Centres wishing to gain the title must write a letter application and that it will be considered by the Director and Trustees. Attention was also brought to this website and it's new 'Provider Membership' tab.
