Cardiff Airport Fire Service “Red Watch"

Cardiff Airport Fire Service “Red Watch" 04/09/2012

On Tuesday 28th August 2012 we visited Cardiff Airport Fire Service “Red Watch”. The watch were incredible in raising money for Touch Trust by completing the Men’s Health Run in October last year in Cardiff Bay. It was a beautifully sunny day and adrenaline levels were high!

We were invited to visit there base at the Airport and had a wonderful time! Debbie Fish,Emma Sorano and Rhian Fish (here with us on work experience) had an adventure – right from the beginning! Emma was driving, Debbie was navigating – that combination in itself makes for a very comical unfolding.

It seemed only curtious to take part fully in the experience; from demonstration of equipment, trying on the uniform.. even sampling yummy chocolate cake afterwards with a nice cup o’ tea. We caught up on the news and events of the last few months and laughed a lot at the memorable tales the team had to tell.

The guys and gals have been busy fundraising – including the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge for Kidney Research. Their dedication to making a positive difference to such worthy causes is amazing.

The Men’s Health Run in October needed stamina and commitment – and a great sense of humour. These are qualities that are apparent in each fire-fighter from the outset. On Tuesday we delightfully recalled the amount of interest and encouragement shown by spectators of the event which is so important to expanding our vision and developing our work.

This is exactly the kind of in put and support that assists us in making such positive differences to our guests.

Red Watch is keen to fundraise for us again and discussions were centred around the types of event that could be next. If you have any ideas, please get in contact with us.

Have you got a suggestion for a theme? Cartoon Characters was a favourite amongst the group! Mickey Mouse and Mr Incredible Costumes at the ready! We’re not kidding!

 Joy and much Gratitude!

Touch Trust team.
